Author Interview 📚

I recently gave an interview to the website Pretty Hot Books 📚

Q: What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A: My latest book is called “The Glint of the Luopan”. It’s inspired by Chinese culture and legends (e.g. Daoism). My penchant for the paranormal has also influenced the story.

Q: Do you have any unusual writing habits?
A: I almost always write lying down. Inspiration simply flows better this way. The desk is reserved for office work 😉

Q: What authors, or books have influenced you?
A: These days, I really admire R.F. Kuang’s Babel. It bears similarities to my novel.
Other than that, since I’ve studied literature as well, quite a few books have influenced me. I enjoy 20th-century classics (Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, Gabriel Garcia Marquez…), but I also like contemporary literary fiction.

Q: What are you working on now?
A: I’ve been working on a New Adult/Coming-of-Age story from the perspective of an autist. It’s nearly finished, it should come out next year. But I’m also planning on writing a sequel to “The Glint of the Luopan” 🙂

Q: Do you have any advice for new authors?
A: You learn with every book you write. But if you’re not serious about it, don’t do it. There’s so much stuff out there already, and there are far better ways to make money.

Q: What is your favorite book of all time?
A: I can’t really answer that, it changes all the time. “Swann’s Way” by Marcel Proust was my favourite book for a long time though.
